Hensarling, Grimm and Maloney Join NAFCU’s 2013 Congressional Caucus Lineup

WASHINGTON, DC (September 3, 2013) — The National Association of Federal Credit Unions (NAFCU) just announced that Reps. Jeb Hensarling, R-Texas, Michael Grimm, R-N.Y., and Carolyn Maloney D-N.Y., have joined the growing list of distinguished speakers confirmed for the association’s Congressional Caucus, Sept. 8-11, in Washington, D.C.

House Financial Services Committee Chairman Hensarling is a chief sponsor of H.R. 2767, the “Protecting American Taxpayers and Homeowners (PATH) Act.” The bill would reform the housing finance system and wind down Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac over a five-year period.  It  would also ease credit unions’ regulatory burden under the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s (CFPB) mortgage rules that are slated to take effect in January 2014.

Grimm serves on the House Financial Services Subcommittees on Domestic & International Monetary Policy, Capital Markets and Government Sponsored Enterprises, and Oversight & Investigations.

Maloney is ranking member of the House Financial Services Subcommittee on Capital Markets and Government Sponsored Enterprises and a senior member of the full committee. She is the chief sponsor of H.R. 1646, which would amend the Federal Credit Union Act to provide a member business loan cap exemption for loans made to aid disaster recovery. Grimm is the bill’s chief Republican cosponsor.
