Honor Credit Union announces Lincoln Bear Student Credit Union

ST. JOSEPH, MI (December 23, 2013) — Opening this January will be Honor Credit Union’s newest addition to the student credit union movement, Lincoln Bear SCU.  Lincoln Bear SCU will be the student credit union for Lincoln Elementary School, and will be ran by students grades second through fifth with the supervision and guidance of Honor Credit Union’s Saint Joseph staff.  The student credit union will celebrate its grand opening on January 10, 2014 and will be open every Friday during all lunch hours after that.

Setting students on a path to financial literacy, Honor’s student credit union program teaches students how fun and easy saving and managing your money can be.  Lincoln Bear SCU operates with the students as “employees,” allowing those students to gain valuable skills in responsibility, math, marketing, and management as they run the student credit union for their school.  Students at Lincoln Elementary School will have the opportunity to open a real membership with Honor Credit Union and deposit money into their account every Friday during their lunch period at school, making saving easy and convenient.  Honor Credit Union has a rewards program for students as they make deposits, contributing to the motivation to save, as well.

“Lincoln Bear SCU will be Honor’s second student credit union in Saint Joseph Public Schools,” comments Saint Joseph branch manager Charley Shasky, “We are so excited to bring this successful and fun program to Lincoln Elementary!”

Honor Credit Union currently operates fourteen student credit unions throughout their branch markets.  Honor Credit Union is proud to serve more than 41,000 members over fourteen counties in Michigan.  Providing solutions for financial success and giving back to the communities they serve remain the driving forces behind Honor Credit Union.  For more information call 800.442.2800, or visit www.honorcu.com.
