Illinois, Kansas and Missouri credit unions to power up at joint Boost Convention

KANSAS CITY, MO (August 11, 2020) — Credit unions in Illinois, Kansas and Missouri can recharge and level up at a joint virtual convention, hosted by the Illinois Credit Union League (ICUL) and Heartland Credit Union Association (HCUA). The two leagues have worked to together to create Boost, (Sept. 22-24), a collaborative event for a cooperative movement.

With inspiring speakers, deep-dive sessions, virtual exhibit hall and demos, Boost also has league-specific sessions exclusively for each league’s credit unions. There’s even a virtual Crasher program for young professionals from ICUL or HCUA member credit unions.

“Working together only makes us stronger,” said Brad Douglas, president/CEO of the Heartland Credit Union Association. “We are able to pull from the expertise of both leagues to bring this event to our credit unions in Illinois, Kansas and Missouri.”

“I am thrilled that ICUL can partner with the Heartland Association on this first-ever jointly hosted virtual event by two Leagues. We are looking forward to putting together a power-packed collaborative event for our credit unions,” said Tom Kane, president/CEO of the Illinois Credit Union League. “What I love most is how this event emphasizes the cooperative nature of the credit union movement by bringing together a network of credit unions across different states to learn and exchange ideas with each other.”

In April, ICUL was forced to cancel its Annual Convention because of the uncertainty around the COVID-19 pandemic. ICUL had been thinking of ways to offer a similar event for its members, who are credit unions in Illinois.

Also citing the pandemic, HCUAdetermined earlier this summer to change their traditional in-person Convention & Annual Meeting to a virtual event for credit unions in Kansas and Missouri.

HCUA and ICUL created Boost to energize credit union professionals and connect them with their peers and league partners during this time of social distancing. Both leagues enjoy working together to book speakers, connect with exhibitors, plan promotion and communication efforts and create the virtual event platform.
