Independence Village 13th Annual Gala

TEXAS CITY, TX (August 13, 2013) — On Saturday, August 3, 2013 AMOCO Federal Credit Union supported Independence Village’s 13th Annual Gala, “Puttin’ on the Ritz,” at the Nessler Center in Texas City.

AMOCO was delighted to have the opportunity to attend the Gala for the fifth time; AMOCO employees Kevin Venable and Stacey Gonzalez came to show their support for the event. Since 2005, AMOCO and Independence Village has held a strong relationship. Independence Village, formally known as Handicapped and Retarded Association (HRA), is a non-profit organization that provides housing and assistance for the physically and mentally challenged. AMOCO has been supporting the organization for the past 8 years. Independence Village is not only a Select Employee Group of AMOCO’s but they are also a beneficiary of our campaign Together We Can Do Good.

Together We Can Do Good was a promise from AMOCO to help improve Galveston County. In 2010, when the campaign launched, we were supporting local food pantries, since then we are proud to say we donate to over 30 non-profit organizations; of course Independence Village is one of them.

“Puttin’ on the Ritz” was a three hour event filled with speeches, dancing, drawings and a live auction. One of AMOCO’s many beliefs is “people helping people” and it was moving to see the community unite together to support this worthy cause.
