KEMBA Financial Credit Union proudly announces recent distinction from the Better Business Bureau of Central Ohio

COLUMBUS, OH (January 12, 2022) — In late 2021, KEMBA Financial Credit Union, a Central Ohio-based $1.9 billion credit union serving more than 120,000 members, was recognized as a BBB Torch Award recipient for Excellence in Workplace Culture.  According to the BBB, this annual awards program recognizes organizations that have practices in place that elevate their commitment to ethical operations; and this category in particular, for establishing an authentic and positive culture of trust.

“Our associates are the primary reason we received this prestigious award. They’re dedicated to each other and our members, which cultivates our unique workplace culture,” said Amy Peterman, Chief Operating Officer.

The BBB evaluates organizations for upholding integrity in business, including: the character of leadership, its commitment to its customers (or in the case of a credit union, members), the culture of trust and community impact. In addition, practicing strong values, integrity and ethics. In fact, KEMBA’s mission statement nearly mirrors just that: “We exist to enrich the financial lives of our members and associates and will do so with passion, empathy, and integrity.”

During KEMBA’s recognition, the BBB pointed out its mission centric values as well creating a culture of inclusion for both associates and members as key factors in their selection.

“Our greatest asset is our associates, and they believe in our mission” said Mark Decello, President & CEO. “I believe the culture at KEMBA helps differentiate us, it’s one thing to say you’re associate-centric, another to live it every day,” he added.
