Kids get behind-the-scene look At Parents’ Workday

‘Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day’ at Altura Credit Union

RIVERSIDE, CA (May 5, 2014) — About 65 children got a behind-the-scenes look at what their parents do all day whenthey participated in Altura Credit Union’s “Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day” recently.

In the morning, the kids spent about two hours at Altura’s Operations and Technology Center “shadowing” their parent to learn about their day-to-day job duties and functions.  A special parent-child lunch was held outdoors and included Hot Dog on a Stick and the Kona Ice Truck. Lots of organized activities were set up, such as a hula hoop contest. Map Props provided photo booths for a fun way to capture the day’s memories.

After-lunch happenings included a scavenger hunt and a Lego car race, followed by an age-appropriate movie and snacks.

Many companies across the country participate in “Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day” programs each April.  The day is designed to educate girls and boys about the wealth of job possibilities for their future, teach them about the realities of work, andgive them a glimpse into what their parents do at their jobs.
