Kirtland Federal Credit Union donates 25 wheelchairs to NM Honor Flight

ALBUQUERQUE, NM (February 17, 2021)

Kirtland Federal Credit Union (KFCU) has donated 25 wheelchairs to support the mission of Honor Flight of Northern New Mexico, a non-profit organization that transports New Mexico’s veterans to Washington, D.C. to visit memorials honoring their service and sacrifices. While trips were postponed in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the wheelchairs will save the organization the expense of having to rent wheelchairs when flights resume in 2021.

“At Kirtland Federal Credit Union, it is our privilege to serve those who have served,” said Matt Rarden, KFCU President/CEO. “We have heard from so many veterans that these honor flights are truly the trip of a lifetime, and we are honored to be able to provide wheelchairs to make that trip even more enjoyable.”

The trip to our nation’s capital is free of charge to the veteran and includes airfare, lodging, meals and all transportation within the Washington, D.C., area. During the trip, veterans are able to visit the World War II Memorial as well as the Lincoln, Vietnam War and Korean War Memorials, and the Changing of the Guard at Arlington National Cemetery. Time permitting, a stop is also made at the Iwo Jima Memorial.
