Kitsap Credit Union creates campaign to inspire donations for Ukrainian refugees

Credit Union Itself Donates $10,000 to Support Those Displaced

BREMERTON, WASH. (March 21, 2022) — The heartfelt appeal delivered by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to the United States Congress inspired many from around the world to show their support to the country being stricken with war. Kitsap Credit Union has already donated $10,000 in support of Ukrainian refugees and has created a campaign in hopes of encouraging others in their community to contribute towards helping the people of the besieged country.

The devastating crisis in Ukraine has already displaced over 3.5 million men, women, and children who have fled their country in search of safety due to the unprecedented attacks from Russia.
“Our hearts and thoughts go out to our Ukrainian neighbors, and although separated by distance, we stand beside them at the most devastating moment of their lives,” said Shawn Gilfedder CEO Kitsap Credit Union.

Since the very first day they opened their doors, Kitsap Credit Union’s mission has been to help better the lives of those in need. Now they are taking this dedication beyond their borders. In a show of support, Kitsap Credit Union has donated to the United Nations Ukraine Humanitarian Fund (UHF). They chose this organization because of the benevolent work the UHF does via tax-deductible donations to support refugee families.

The UHF coordinates with the United Nations, partners in Ukraine, neighboring countries, and the authorities to help and protect refugees and people displaced by violence, conflict, and persecution. The financial support will help provide life-saving essentials including shelter, water, food, safety, and protection for those in need.

Kitsap Credit Union is inviting others to join them in donating to this important cause. The credit union has kicked off a campaign through their local branches, website, and social media platforms. With animated messages, informational posts, as well as appeal videos from Kitsap Credit Union team members, the organization is encouraging their members and community to show their support for Ukrainian families in need.

In addition to the UHF, additional organizations that people can consider donating to are International Rescue Committee, CARE USA, Mercy Corps, and Save the Children.
