LAFCU sponsors local Little League Baseball team

LOS ANGELES, CA (November 28, 2022) — Los Angeles Federal Credit Union (LAFCU) is proud to announce our sponsorship of the “Mariners,” a Northeast Los Angeles Little League baseball team.  LAFCU is sponsoring them from November 2022 to May 2023, including potential playoff games, and the team has thirteen boys and girls ages 7 to 10. LAFCU provided backpacks for all players, gear for the team’s catcher, a sponsorship banner, and hosted a team luncheon for a recent trophy ceremony. LAFCU’s Business Development team visited with the players, attended their games, and spoke with team members and their parents. LAFCU also shares content on social media for community-related events that reflect the importance of giving back to the community and partnership.

Apart from LAFCU’s mission to provide the best financial services as defined by our members, maintain our high level of financial stability, and to foster employee growth and achievement, LAFCU also prioritizes community involvement and giving back. LAFCU team representatives will provide and share information with parents, fostering relationships as we have with past teams, and become a source for parents’ financial needs and questions. Many parents have joined the credit union, applied for loans, and opened youth accounts for their children to impart the value of starting to save money at a young age. Community outreach and youth financial education will continue to be a priority of Los Angeles Federal Credit Union for years to come.

Anyone who lives in the Greater Los Angeles, California Metropolitan area can join LAFCU and take advantage of its financial services. For details, visit www.LAFCU.org, call (877) MY LAFCU (695-2328), or stop by one of their branches.

About LAFCU (CA)

LAFCU was founded in 1936 by 13 Los Angeles City Employees to give fellow employees a safe, low-cost, and convenient source to borrow and save money during the height of the Great Depression. They gathered $65 to form the “Los Angeles City Employees Federal Credit Union.” In 1987, the name changed to Los Angeles Federal Credit Union to reflect a growing field of membership, which started to include immediate family members of City employees and individuals who lived in the same household as a current member. In 2006 LAFCU expanded its field again to include residents living in most counties of Southern California by establishing the Los Angeles Charitable Association, Inc. (LACA). LACA is a 501(c)3 nonprofit charity that donates and supports charities in the greater L.A. area that since 2006, has donated over $500,000 to those charities.

Now, 85 years after its initial deposit of $65, LAFCU manages $1.2 billion in assets, has 71,000 members, staffs seven branches, and its members can access a nationwide network of 30,000 CO-OP ATMs and 5,000 shared branches.

Anyone living in most counties of Southern California can join LAFCU and take advantage of its financial services. For details, visit www.LAFCU.org, call (877) MY LAFCU (695-2328), or visit a branch.
