HARAHAN, LA (March 27, 2023) — The Louisiana Credit Union League’s Young Professionals Network (YPN) presented Lauren Davis Callihan with Meritus CU the 2022 Young Professional of the Year Award during its annual workshop. The event, which united more than 80 young professionals, took place March 21-22 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The award recognizes an individual 18-40 years of age who has been exceptionally engaged and supportive of the Louisiana credit union movement over the past year.

Lauren has been an integral part of the local, state and national credit union movement for ten years. She joined the credit union in 2013 as a part-time teller, after receiving her bachelor’s degree in public relations. In 2015 she moved to the Marketing Department as Communications Coordinator. Lauren was promoted to her current role as Marketing Supervisor in 2019 where she leads engagement, acquisition, digital, brand and financial wellness initiatives.

Lauren has a passion for people and is an exemplary mentor for young credit union professionals. She was selected as a CUNA 2016 Crash the GAC (Crasher) representative. Her participation and contributions as a Crasher led to her being invited by CUNA and The Cooperative Trust to serve as a Crasher Mentor every year since then.

A Credit Union Certified Marketing Executive (CUCME) and Certified Credit Union Financial Counselor (CCUFC), Lauren contributed to Meritus CU winning multiple Louisiana Credit Union League Excellence in Marketing Awards over the past ten years as well as the Desjardin Youth Financial Education Award. She also led the in-house design, development and trademark activities of the Meritus CU Wise Kids Savings Club with Oaklee the Owl.

“Lauren embodies the credit union philosophy, sharing valuable marketing and business development insights and collaborating with peers at other credit unions. She is an innovative leader and significant contributor to Meritus CU initiatives including a name change and rebrand, field of membership expansion to community charter, asset growth surpassing $250 million, implementation of new technologies, COVID-19 communications and shifts in marketing strategies during economic challenges,” commented Brian Leger, Meritus CU CEO.
