Mazuma Credit Union announces departure of CEO Brandon Michaels; names Interim CEO

OVERLAND PARK, KA (July 30, 2018) — Mazuma Credit Union has announced that Brandon Michaels has resigned as CEO, effective August 23rd, 2018. Deonne Christensen will serve as Mazuma’s interim CEO as preparations are made to search for Brandon’s successor.

Mazuma’s Board of Directors and Team express their gratitude to Brandon for his invaluable contribution and dedication to the credit union. “Brandon has been a tremendous asset in defining a vision for our robust future. We are privileged to have worked with a person like him and we understand his decision to pursue another growth opportunity.” said Mazuma Board Chair Russ Petry. “We have a tremendous Team at Mazuma and are confident that Mazuma will continue to be a catalyst to make Kansas City a better place.”

“As I reflect over the last nearly seven years, I am in awe of what this Team has accomplished. It has been such a privilege to have led Mazuma during some of our most transformative years,” said Michaels. “As an organization that is passionate about people above everything else, I know that Mazuma will remain committed to exceeding the needs of the Members and the community.”

While a search for Brandon’s successor is underway, Deonne Christensen, Chief Experience Officer, will oversee the transition period until the Board’s appointment of a new CEO. Deonne has been with Mazuma for five years and has worked in the financial industry for 25 years.
