About Meritrust Credit Union
Meritrust was originally chartered in December of 1935 when employees from the Stearman Aircraft Company in Wichita organized an employees’ credit union. In 2009, in an effort to communicate who they were as a credit union as well as to attract new members across their Kansas service area, the credit union became Meritrust Credit Union. Their new name is an extension of the two pillars of their unsurpassed service: merit and trust. Today, Meritrust is the largest Kansas credit union and has branches in Wichita, Derby, Lawrence, Junction City and Manhattan. Meritrust proudly serves their 77,000 members with 280 employees and nearly $970 million in assets. With a mission of improving the lives of their members and the communities they serve, they strive to be responsible corporate stewards and build a friendly, member-focused culture. Meritrust was ranked no. 3 of credit unions nationwide—and the only credit union in Kansas—for the value returned to members by Callahan & Associates, a national research and consulting firm that analyzes credit union performance. Meritrust was also ranked in the top 20 of best performing credit unions in the nation by SNL Financial, a financial services industry analysis firm – the only credit union in Kansas to be included in the ranking of the 50 best performing credit unions.
