Mid-Atlantic Corporate’s 2014 Financial Management Conference proves to be a good investment for credit unions

MIDDLETOWN, PA (November 5, 2014) — Mid-Atlantic Corporate knows a thing or two about good investments. Need proof? The fact that their 2014 Financial Management Conference was such a hit is example enough.

The conference, which took place on Oct. 20-21, 2014, at the Holiday Inn Harrisburg in Grantville, Pa., was attended by many more than 30 credit unions and organizations and offered the latest information in financial guidance.

Joel Naroff, an award-winning and highly-recognized economic advisor, kicked off the conference as the keynote speaker for the second year in a row and talked to guests about the current economic landscape. He made sure to discuss the Fed’s major concerns – the job market and wage gains, home sales, consumer spending, etc. – as well as his predictions for the future of the economy.

Joel’s presentation laid the groundwork for many of the industry’s hot topics, which were discussed during various breakout sessions. Finance experts from all over the country touched on several current issues, including liquidity and balance sheet management, investment portfolio strategies, ALM regulations, loan marketing strategies and rising interest rates.

New to this year’s conference was a leadership track, led by MY CU Services chief culture officer, Joe Bertotto. His presentations focused on helping workplace leaders develop their employees to guarantee good performance, harness their staff’s strengths and weaknesses for improved teamwork and how to provide effective feedback.

Other speakers included: Bill McKenna, MMSS; Emilio Garma, Raymond James; Gregory W. Doner, FIMAC Solutions, LLC; Rob Bonds, Wells Fargo Securities; Tim Sustak, ATON Financial Management; Ryan Brockman, ATON Financial Management; and Zack Bishop, SunTrust Robinson Humphrey, Inc.

In addition to the many breakout sessions, guests were invited to attend a reception at Tröegs Brewery in Hershey, Pa., on the evening of October 20. They enjoyed hors d’oeuvres made from locally-grown food and Tröegs specialty beers throughout the night while interacting with fellow credit union and finance professionals.

On the final day of the conference, Billy LaFavor of CU Investment Solutions served as the closing speaker. His interactive presentation left guests with the opportunity to see some of the portfolio strategies being utilized by credit unions.

“The goal of this conference is to provide credit unions with up-to-date knowledge about the financial market so they can make the best decisions for their institutions and I believe we’ve achieved that goal,” said Jaime Agostino, marketing director for Mid-Atlantic Corporate.

Mid-Atlantic Corporate would like to thank the following sponsors and exhibitors who made this year’s conference a success:
