Minnesota credit union leader honored for 30+ career, commitment to the industry

ST. PAUL, MN (December 13, 2013) —  Associated Healthcare Credit Union (AHCU) has designated Judy (Root) Greff a Credit Union Builder through the Minnesota Credit Union Foundation. In celebrating a career in the credit union industry that spans more than 30 years, AHCU honored Greff on her impending retirement on Dec. 31.

AHCU was the last stop in Greff’s career, where she worked on its successful merger with Bluestone Federal Credit Union in 2011. In addition, she led the following credit unions:

  • Manager of NSP Highbridge Credit Union from 1983-1989;
  • President of MTC Employees Credit Union from 1989-1994; and
  • President of Bluestone Federal Credit Union from 1994-2011.

“Judy has been a pillar of the credit union community during a very successful career, and we at Associated Healthcare Credit Union are pleased to have worked alongside her for the past few years,” said AHCU President & CEO Jerry Ziegler. “Her commitment and dedication to the credit union industry are appreciated and will be remembered.”

Greff was actively involved in the credit union movement, serving on the Minnesota Credit Union Foundation Board of Directors for six years. She also was active within the Minnesota Credit Union Network, serving on the Credit Union for Kids, Awards, the Nominating/Elections Committees, as a member of GREAT (Grass Roots Education & Action Team), and was active in the River Cities Chapter of Credit Unions. In the community, she had a passion for providing personal finance education for women in the Eagan Homeless Shelter.

“I feel especially privileged to be able to honor Judy in this way, as one of our own – a former Foundation Board member – who was a voice around the table when we established the Credit Union Builder Award in 2008,” said MnCUF Chair Pat Brekken. “I thank Judy for her time and dedication to the industry and am honored to bestow upon her the prestigious title of Credit Union Builder.”

Greff joins 23 other individuals who have been honored over the past six years with the MnCUF’s Credit Union Builder Award. The names of the recipients and the contributing credit unions are permanently displayed in the Minnesota Credit Union Network’s lobby as a tribute to their accomplishments.
