Mountain West Credit Union Association to host first ever hybrid annual meeting & convention

Leading the way with dual programs, live cast events, young professionals’ gatherings

DENVER, CO (April 29, 2021)The Mountain West Credit Union Association (MWCUA) will host its first-ever hybrid annual meeting & convention May 3-7, happening in-person at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess in Scottsdale, AZ, and virtually on an interactive online platform. The event begins with a pre-conference virtual session on Monday, May 3, and concludes with the annual Children’s Miracle Network/Credit Unions for Kids celebration on Friday, May 7.

The dual programmed conference offers separate track speakers and presentations, along with combined live cast events, such as the organization’s Annual Business Meeting set for Thursday, May 6. There are also specific events geared towards fostering collaboration among the organizations’ young professionals’ group.

“We were unable to meet last year due to the onset of the pandemic, so it’s been two years since we’ve had a conference. We are leading the way with a unique approach to this year’s hybrid event, offering flexibility while providing an opportunity to gather together again,” said Scott Earl, President and CEO of MWCUA. “There is a tremendous amount of excitement and enthusiasm around this year’s Annual Meeting & Convention – we are all hopeful for a return to normal, all the while realizing we will not take it for granted again.”

The in-person event will see 150 attendees representing 42 member credit unions. The virtual event will have 110 attendees representing 36 member credit unions. Additionally, onsite will have 86 vendors and the virtual exhibit hall will have 24 vendors.

In-person attendees will enjoy a traditional conference experience, while following health and safety protocols. The in-person conference features the Mountain West Foundation’s annual fundraising golf tournament, the Association Annual Business Meeting, the Association Awards Banquet and a full array of sessions on advocacy, the economy and business environment, technology, risk management, best practices for boards and more. The virtual attendees have a robust calendar of sessions, coffee chats, virtual gatherings, and access to live participation in the Association Business Meeting, a keynote session titled Courageous Cultures, and the closing keynote titled Lead to Win with Superbowl 50 Champion Ryan Harris.

Despite the challenges of planning a hybrid event, the desire to offer education and collaboration options in a setting that is best for the attendee was paramount. Nicole Brusewitz, MWCUA’s Vice President of Education and Events said, “planning an annual meeting and convention in the midst of a pandemic is no easy task as there are so many unknowns. The decision to go hybrid allowed us to provide the maximum flexibility for our members while keeping individual choice and safety top of mind.”
