MSGCU hosts ribbon cutting ceremony for new Commerce Township branch

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, MI (October 25, 2019) — Michigan Schools and Government Credit Union (MSGCU) has officially opened the doors of its newest location in Commerce Township by hosting a ribbon cutting ceremony this week. The ribbon was cut by MSGCU Branch Manager Marjorie Rieckhoff and Commerce Township Supervisor David Scott. In attendance were officials from the Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce, Lakes Area Community Coalition, Commerce Township Board of Trustees, Commerce Township Fire Department, as well as other local area business and community leaders, members of the media, and MSGCU Board Members and employees. Guests were invited to enjoy refreshments, get to know the office staff and management of the Credit Union, and tour the new facility.

“We are extremely pleased to expand our presence in western Oakland County and offer better accessibility and more convenience to our members that live, work, and commute in this vibrant and growing area,” said MSGCU President/CEO Peter Gates. “Building a new branch in Commerce Township presents us more opportunity to help a greater number of people reach their financial goals with better rates, low fees, and friendly service.”

Located at 3230 N. Pontiac Trail (between M5 and Haggerty Rd.), the new branch is the first in Commerce Township, the fifth in Oakland County, and the 15th MSGCU branch overall. The environmentally-friendly facility features three drive-thru lanes and 3,400 square feet of space. The office also includes a touch-screen informational board, coffee bar, and 24-hour ATM.

Together, Rieckhoff, who is also a Certified Credit Union Financial Counselor, and Assistant Branch Manager Andrea Coggins, have more than 17 years of experience in the financial industry and are particularly excited to support the Commerce Township community. Recently, MSGCU donated $10,000 to Scarlet’s Smile, a non-profit organization constructing an inclusive playground in Commerce Township. In addition, the Commerce Township branch donated $1,000 to the Commerce Township Fire Department as part of MSGCU’s Year of Giving Back series, a program in which each branch donates and supports a local organization.

“The Commerce Township area, along with its many local businesses and non-profit organizations, is very involved with helping residents thrive,” said Rieckhoff. “We are also dedicated to building relationships with our members and the communities we serve. This is why we are thrilled to support Scarlet’s Smile and the Fire Department.”

The Commerce Township branch offers MSGCU’s comprehensive suite of services and products for the benefit of its members and the community. MSGCU additionally offers Saturday lobby and drive-thru hours, a fully-staffed Michigan call center, access to nearly 30,000 fee-free ATMs nationwide, and many scholarship opportunities, free educational workshops, and much more.
