MSGCU hosts Ribbon cutting ceremony for renovated Shelby Township Branch

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, MI (February 14, 2018) — Michigan Schools and Government Credit Union (MSGCU) celebrated the grand re-opening of its Shelby Township Branch on 23 Mile Road by hosting a ribbon cutting ceremony yesterday. In attendance were officials from Macomb County, Macomb Township, Macomb Chamber of Commerce, Charter Township of Shelby as well as other local area business and community leaders, members of the media, and MSGCU Board Members and employees. Guests were invited to enjoy refreshments, to share in the excitement of the new design and layout of the branch, and to hear of the gratitude that MSGCU has for its partners that made the transformation possible.

“We have been serving the Shelby Township community at this location for 30 years. And thanks to the continuous and long-time support of our members and community, we were able to make these renovations possible in five short months,” said MSGCU President and CEO Peter Gates. “We hope that once you’ve experienced the new facility, you will agree that it was worth the wait.”

MSGCU was pleased to welcome several special guests to their grand re-opening celebration. The ribbon was cut by Shelby Township Supervisor Richard Stathakis, Macomb Chamber President/CEO Grace Shore, MSGCU President/CEO Peter Gates, MSGCU Chief Retail Officer Debbie Fahrney, and MSGCU Branch Manager Justin Goodell. Making the event even more memorable, soloist April Shandor from the Macomb Community College choir performed the national anthem.

The Credit Union also enjoys giving back to the communities it serves. In its Year of Giving Back series, where each branch donates and supports a local organization, the Shelby Township branch will support the Shelby Fire Department with a $1,000 donation.
