Municipal Credit Union honors NYPD Officer Ryan Nash as Most Valuable New Yorker

NEW YORK, NY (January 18, 2018)Municipal Credit Union (MCU) has recognized New York City Police Department (NYPD) Officer Ryan Nash of the 1st Precinct with the Most Valuable New Yorker (MVNY) Award. The award was presented to Officer Nash at the St. John’s University basketball game at Madison Square Garden on January 13th.

Officer Nash was recognized by MCU for his heroic efforts on October 31, 2017 when a man in a rented pick-up truck drove into a bicycle path along the West Side Highway, mowing down cyclists and pedestrians. Officer Nash used his extraordinary skills and courage to stop the man and end the most deadly terrorist attack in NYC since September 11, 2001.

Officer Nash began his NYPD career with the 113th Precinct in South Jamaica Queens in 2012. He has since received two accommodations for his work in Queens and one in Manhattan.

“Officer Nash’s actions are a reminder that police officers and their fellow first responders are truly heroes,” said MCU Vice President of Business Development/Member Relations Corey Fernandes, who presented Officer Nash with his MVNY Award. “We’re very proud to present him with the Most Valuable New York Award and thank him again for his service.”

This is the second year of the MCU Most Valuable New Yorker program, which was created to recognize the hardworking men and women of New York City who selflessly go above and beyond to make New York a better place to work and live. Individuals who display dedication to service and their community through their efforts are selected to be honored by MCU so that other New Yorkers can be inspired by their story. MCU honors Most Valuable New Yorkers at various events throughout the city, including St. John’s University Basketball games, CUNY Athletics events, and Brooklyn Cyclones games held at MCU Park.
