NAFCU partners with Operation Homefront to help military families that need school supplies

LAS VEGAS, NV (July 23, 2014) — The National Association of Federal Credit Unions (NAFCU) 47th Annual Conference and Solutions Expo has partnered with Operation Homefront to assemble 225 backpacks that will be donated to U.S. servicemembers and their families that are in need of school supplies.

“Credit unions enjoy giving back to their communities, and helping servicemembers and their families is a great way for our attendees to show their appreciation for all that they do for our country,” said Lisa Cox, NAFCU’s vice president of events and education. “Operation Homefront does amazing work for military families and we’re delighted to work with them this year. This project is especially meaningful for the defense credit unions who help address the financial needs of our active and retired servicemembers and their loved ones.”

Headquartered in San Antonio, Operation Homefront is an inspirational nonprofit organization that was created to support the families of deployed servicemembers right after Sept. 11, 2001. The organization helps these individuals with emergency financial assistance, counseling and recovery support.

Dovenmuehle, Genworth Mortgage Insurance, Money Concepts and Élan Financial Services are sponsoring the backpacks, which will each contain school supplies. Attendees at the conference will participate in filling the backpacks and writing a special note for the child recipient. The drop-off location for the backpacks will be located at NAFCU’s Preferred Partner Pavilion.

NAFCU’s 47th Annual Conference and Solutions Expo continues through Friday at The Venetian Las Vegas Casino, Hotel & Resort. For a complete schedule of events, visit www.nafcu-annual.org/agenda.
