NAFCU releases 2014 Credit Union Compliance GPS

WASHINGTON, DC (March 25, 2014) — The National Association of Federal Credit Unions (NAFCU) has released its 2014 Credit Union Compliance GPS, a must-have electronic manual for credit union compliance professionals interested in learning about the latest laws and regulations affecting the credit union industry. The manual is available to association members and nonmembers.

“In this increasingly complex regulatory environment, it is essential for compliance professionals to have a strong grasp of the regulations and laws affecting their credit unions’ regulatory compliance obligations,” said JiJi Bahhur, NAFCU’s director of regulatory compliance and a NAFCU Certified Compliance Officer (NCCO). “The GPS is a one-of-a-kind, vital resource that helps credit unions successfully manage the plethora of compliance changes from numerous agencies throughout the year.”

The 2014 GPS has more than 100 pages of new material. Additions to the manual include seven new sections on the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s (CFPB) mortgage rules, including qualified mortgages, expanded sections on Regulation E and CFPB’s remittance transfer rule and improved, user-friendly search functions with more bookmarks and hyperlinks.

Additional highlights of the 2014 edition include:

  • updates on major regulatory changes over the past year to assist with research efforts;
  • study tips following each section for those studying to take the NAFCU Certified Compliance Officer (NCCO) exams; and
  • access to NAFCU’s unique Scope & Applicability Charts to help credit union compliance professionals better understand CFPB’s mortgage rules.
