NAFCU strengthens regulatory affairs, compliance divisions
WASHINGTON, DC (August 18, 2016) — The National Association of Federal Credit Unions (NAFCU) has added Ann Kossachev and Andrew Morris to its team of regulatory affairs counsels to bolster assistance to members with existing and new regulations. In addition, Elizabeth LaBerge has been promoted to Senior Regulatory Compliance Counsel.
In the regulatory affairs counsel role, Kossachev and Morris will represent NAFCU in meetings and communication with regulators, including CFPB and NCUA, to advocate for credit union needs and push back against overly burdensome regulations. They will also prepare Regulatory Alerts for NAFCU members, participate in webcast discussions and provide members with regular updates about credit union regulation.
“Ann and Andrew are strong additions to our already exceptional team,” said Alexander Monterrubio, NAFCU’s director of regulatory affairs. “Their fresh ideas and analytical skills will be critical in helping NAFCU keep the association’s members apprised of vital regulatory developments affecting credit union operations.”
Kossachev is a graduate from George Mason University School of Law and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics and political science from Binghamton University. Prior to joining NAFCU, Kossachev worked for Harvey & Binnall, PLLC as a law clerk.
Morris is a graduate from The George Washington University Law School and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in history from Columbia University. While in law school, Morris worked as a legal intern for the Consumer Finance Protection Bureau (CFPB), Office of Fair Lending and Equal Opportunity.
Elizabeth LaBerge, with NAFCU since July 2015, was promoted to Senior Regulatory Compliance Counsel. Since joining NAFCU, LaBerge has assisted credit unions with a variety of compliance issues, such as the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA) and privacy. She also spearheaded the development of NAFCU’s FFIEC Cybersecurity Assessment Tool Workbook. LaBerge is a graduate of the Stetson University College of Law in Gulfport, Fla., and holds a Bachelor’s degree in interpersonal communications from the University of Central Florida.
