NAFCUs 2017 Spring Regulatory Compliance School kicks off

WASHINGTON, DC (April 10, 2017) — Credit union professionals from across the country are gathering today at the Crystal Gateway Marriott in Arlington, Va., to kick off the National Association of Federally-Insured Credit Unions (NAFCU) 2017 Spring Regulatory Compliance School. Attendees will learn about the latest rules and compliance requirements affecting their credit unions’ operations.

The School runs through Friday, April 14, and is open to NAFCU members and nonmembers.

“Several new regulations have implementation deadlines this year, and it’s important that credit union staff have the latest information so they’re ready for the compliance responsibilities from day one,” said Brandy Bruyere, NAFCU’s vice president of regulatory compliance and a NAFCU Certified Compliance Officer (NCCO). “The sessions at this year’s school are led by some of our industry’s top compliance experts, who will cover everything from the regulation of share accounts to lending and Regulation Z, and other hot compliance topics.”

School presenters include Bruyere and other members of NAFCU’s compliance team, including NAFCU Senior Regulatory Compliance Counsel Elizabeth Young LaBerge (NCCO), Special Counsel for Compliance & Research Pamela Yu, and Regulatory Compliance Counsels Stephanie Lyon (NCCO) and André Cotten.

NAFCU President and CEO Dan Berger will deliver opening remarks. NAFCU Executive Vice President and COO Anthony Demangone, Director of Regulatory Affairs Alexander Monterrubio, Senior Regulatory Affairs Counsel Michael Emancipator, and Regulatory Affairs Counsels Ann Kossachev and Andrew Morris will also provide their insights.

Topics to be covered at School include:

  • NCUA supervision and examinations;
  • Regulation Z (Truth in Lending Act);
  • Regulation E (Electronic Fund Transfer Act);
  • Military Lending Act;
  • Regulation C (Home Mortgage Disclosure Act); and
  • cybersecurity.

NAFCU Regulatory Compliance School attendees will receive a free, advance copy of the association’s 2017 Credit Union Compliance GPS electronic manual.
