NAFCU’s 49th Annual Conference and Solutions Expo kicks off in Nashville

WASHINGTON, DC (June 14, 2016) — More than 1,200 credit union professionals are gathering today to kick off the National Association of Federal Credit Unions (NAFCU49th Annual Conference and Solutions Expo in Nashville. The conference is NAFCU’s largest annual event and it runs through Friday, June 17.

“We’re excited to hold NAFCU’s Annual Conference in Nashville this year,” said NAFCU President and CEO Dan Berger.  “The city’s vibrant musical scene and lively downtown area are a great backdrop for our dynamic speakers, outstanding networking events and insightful education sessions that will give attendees a great competitive edge as they work to improve their bottom lines and their credit union operations.”

Berger is scheduled today to a lead a member-only “Private Conversation” with other NAFCU senior staff.

Additionally, programmed for today are NAFCU’S inaugural Mortgage Symposium and the Defense Credit Union Summit.  The symposium is designed to provide insight on current and emerging trends in the mortgage industry and tools to help credit unions capture a bigger piece of the market. The summit is designed for conference attendees to learn about the impact of the Military Lending Act and network with other credit union leaders invested in defense issues.

Also happening today is the optional NAFCU’s pre-conference workshop, led by NAFCU Executive Vice President and COO Anthony Demangone, where credit union board and supervisory committee members will be able to earn the NAFCU Certified Volunteer Expert certification. At this session, registrants can attain this prestigious designation by passing an exam after completing the workshop.

During the conference, attendees will hear from distinguished NAFCU staff members and leading industry professionals, including best-selling author and business strategist David Horsager and NCUA Board Chairman Rick Metsger, who will provide an NCUA update. The keynote speaker of the conference is Carey Lohrenz. Lohrenz was the first female F-14 fighter pilot in the U.S. Navy and is a business consultant and best-selling author. She will provide conference attendees the proper tools to take their credit unions’ success to the next level during her keynote presentation, “Lessons in Leadership from the Flight Deck.”

This year’s conference also includes the annual Solutions Expo, which includes a look at the latest technologies, applications and resources available to help improve credit union operations.

Winners of NAFCU’s 2016 Annual Awards will be recognized Thursday, June 16. The awards recognize association member credit unions and individuals for excellence and achievement in the industry.

On Friday, June 17, there is a Taste of Nashville Festival and concert with Grammy-nominated country music singer John Michael Montgomery, hosted at the Ryman – former home of the Grand Ole Opry.
