New issue of The Bridge: Celebrating 40 Years of Empowerment Through Credit Unions

(June 9, 2014) — This issue of The Bridge celebrates the Federation’s 40th anniversary with articles featuring Federation, Board and Member initiatives that are succeeding in helping low- and moderate-income people and communities achieve financial independence. Established in 1974, the Federation promotes financial inclusion by supporting community development credit unions that specialize in serving the underserved.   To meet the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead, the Federation focuses on innovation, investments and capacity-building that credit unions can draw on as a resource to grow their outreach, counsel their members and maintain a healthy bottom line.   This issue features Neighborhood Trust Financial Partners, Hawaii First FCU, Shreveport FCU, North Side Community FCU, Freedom First FCU, Mendo Lake CU, Appalachian Community FCU, Cooperative FCU, Urban Upbound FCU, Genesee Co-op FCU and Manatee Community FCU with articles on:

  • Financial Empowerment
  • Northwest Area Immigrant Asset-Building Initiative
  • Borrow and Save
  • Cooperative Finance Leaders of America
  • CDFI Challenge Campaign
