NMTW announces name change to Align Credit Union

LOWELL, MA (September 25, 2013) — NMTW Community Credit Union is pleased to announce that it has officially changed its name to Align Credit Union.

NMTW (Northern Massachusetts Telephone Workers) Credit Union was founded in 1922 to serve the financial needs of area telephone company employees and their families.  After being granted a community charter in 2005, NMTW Membership was expanded to include anyone who lives, works or goes to school in many communities in eastern Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire. In 2012, the Credit Union began to explore a name change to reflect its growth and offerings. In May of 2013 the new name was unveiled to the public.

“I could not be more excited about beginning this next chapter as Align Credit Union,” said Ken Del Rossi, Align President and CEO. “While NMTW certainly holds a great deal of emotional equity, it was time to update our name to better represent who we are today. As Align, expect the same level of service and community commitment… just with a brand new look and enhanced product and service offerings.”

“As an institution, we have always been committed to providing the latest products and services to meet the changing financial needs of the communities we serve,” said Tom Hammond, NMTW Executive Vice President and CFO. “Changing our name is the next step in that evolution. As Align, we are excited to continue our long tradition of service and innovation.”

The new name is the result of more than a year of research, analysis and planning that touched all levels of the organization. The name and tagline were ultimately developed as a tribute to the Credit Union’s commitment to customization and full-service approach, with the word “connect” providing a nod to its telephone worker heritage.

“This has been an exciting process for our organization. Members, employees and community partners have all rallied behind the new name, helping to make the transition as seamless as possible,” said Lauren Robinson, Align Vice President of Marketing. “We are thrilled to fully transition to Align and continue to deliver superior financial solutions.”

After the initial announcement in May, the Credit Union spent the Summer making the necessary preparations and communicating the change to Members and the community. The public launch includes a new website and media campaign, in addition to a refresh of all branch signage, collateral and internal tools.

The launch of the new name also coincides with the opening of Align’s sixth branch in Amesbury, Massachusetts. Conveniently located at 19 Haverhill Road, directly off of Interstate 495, the full-service branch features a drive up ATM and teller window.
