North Alabama Educators Credit Union partners with True North Custom to create custom magazine

CHATTANOOGA,TN (May 28, 2014) — True North Custom has partnered with North Alabama Educators Credit Union (NAECU) to support member acquisition, engagement, and growth strategies through a custom print and digital magazine distributed to current and prospective credit union members.

“We are very excited about this new marketing approach, and member response to the first issue has been very positive,” says NAECU President and CEO Greg Olmstead. “Together magazine will take our marketing to the next level.”

Together magazine reflects a shift in strategy for NAECU, moving away from traditional media and toward more targeted, measurable content marketing. Created in collaboration with True North, one of the country’s leading providers of custom content, the publication features a balance of lifestyle and financial content designed to promote NAECU products and services while generating higher loan volume and increasing loan-to-share ratio.

“Content marketing is a tried-and-true approach for market leaders across all industries—including credit unions,” says True North Chief Marketing Officer Jason Skinner. “It might seem a bit counterintuitive to include nonfinancial content, but our experience and research tell us that readers respond very well to this type of information, and they enjoy receiving it in magazine form.”

After the first issue, the data already demonstrates the program’s effectiveness. The digital edition of Together is featured on the NAECU website, and the credit union had a 32% increase in overall website views and traffic within the first week of the publication’s delivery.

“We were very happy to see this increase,” said NAECU Marketing Director Stephanie Mitchell, “and believe it was definitely from the magazine.”
