North Island Credit Union becomes official partner of Chula Vista Elementary School District

**Credit Union Partnership Will Support Teacher Recognition & Other Programs In Upcoming School Year**

North Island Credit Union has become an official partner of the Chula Vista Elementary School District (CVESD). Through the partnership, the credit union will sponsor a series of teacher and staff recognition events during the 2023/2024 school year and provide financial information and resources during new hire orientation programs. CVESD is California's largest elementary school district, with approximately 50 school sites serving nearly 29,500 students and more than 3,000 employees, including 1,513 teachers.

“We are excited to partner with CVESD to support the teachers and staff who do so much for their students across the Chula Vista Elementary School District,” said Steve O’Connell, president and CEO of North Island Credit Union. “We have a long history of supporting educators because we know the life-long impact that teachers and their school communities have on our children’s lives. Expanding our education support program with CVESD is another way we’re working to help our students succeed. We look forward to supporting CVESD for many years ahead.”

"North Island Credit Union's partnership will enable the Chula Vista Elementary School District to showcase, honor, and appreciate our dedicated staff," said Jason Romero, CVESD Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources. “Working with North Island Credit Union will also allow the district to provide supplementary financial resources to our staff members – which is invaluable. We are looking forward to what is to come with this new partnership.”

North Island Credit Union’s support of CVESD extends its deep commitment to assisting educators and schools across San Diego. The credit union’s education-focused programs include awarding $175,000 in grants to local teachers, partnering with the San Diego Unified School District to recognize exceptional first year teachers, honoring local teachers through Teacher of the Year Awards with the San Diego County Office of Education, and supporting the Classroom of the Future Foundation to underwrite San Diego County school initiatives modeling the future of K-12 education, among others.
