Once upon a time… Office Olympix returns for a magical night!

YORKPA (April 17, 2015) — Storybook characters came to life and battled it out for power during last night’s Office Olympix event to benefit Easter Seals Western and Central Pennsylvania.  The event took place from 6:30 – 9:00 p.m. at the Valencia Ballroom located at 142 North George Street.  Local business leaders, including the Money Monarchs from First Capital FCU, dressed up as their favorite “Once Upon a Time” characters and competed in a variety of office-type games like Swivel Chair Relay, Racin’ to the Jon, and Office Task Relay.  In addition to the magical games, visitors also had the opportunity to meet the Easter Seals’ Ambassador Kids and learn more about the Easter Seals mission.

“Although this was a fun event, the most important part was knowing we were helping local children and adults with disabilities and special needs gain opportunities for independence,” said Tara Houser, VP of Marketing at First Capital Federal Credit Union.

To participate in the event, businesses were asked to raise at least $400.  The night wrapped up with an awards ceremony in which First Capital was recognized as the top fundraiser of the evening with a donation totaling nearly $1,700.  All money raised benefits Easter Seals of Western and Central Pennsylvania.

Each year, Easter Seals Western and Central Pennsylvania offers help, hope and answers to over 20,000 families with special needs. Ninety nine percent of the funds raised in York stay in the York community to provide programs and services such as adaptive water skiing, snow skiing, music therapy, and camps for adults and children alike.  In fact, Easter Seals has been ranked #1 among the National Health Council’s member agencies for allocating the highest percentage of dollars to providing direct services – a distinction we’ve held for 30 years.

First Capital Federal Credit Union is a $164 million asset-size credit union with nearly 18,000 members based in York, PA.  Founded in 1954 as S. Morgan Smith Credit Union, First Capital has merged and grown, and continues to work closely with more than 400 companies and organizations throughout York County and across the country.
