Since May 2018, Credit Unions Care has collaborated with Knoxville Habitat for Humanity to help address the need for affordable housing where they live, work and play. This project was a collaborative effort of the Knoxville Chapter of Credit Unions and eight area credit unions, including:
- Enrichment Federal Credit Union
- ETMA Federal Credit Union
- Knoxville Law Enforcement Federal Credit Union
- Knoxville TVA Employees Credit Union
- New South Credit Union
- ORNL Federal Credit Union
- UT Federal Credit Union
- Y-12 Federal Credit Union
- and the Knoxville Area Chapter of Credit Unions.
The build brought together credit union employees to build a home with Tyra Gann, a hardworking single mother in need of a safe and affordable home for her family (family bio attached).
The eight local credit unions took the credit union philosophy of “people helping people” to the next level by working together to build a Knoxville Habitat home. Gann invested 500 hours of “sweat equity” with the Knoxville Habitat program through classes and volunteer work. Because of her commitment, and the partnership with Credit Unions Care, she will dedicate her new home on August 22.
The media is invited to join Credit Unions Care for the Dedication:
