PrimeWay Federal Credit Union gives over $15,000 in school supplies

HOUSTON, TX (August 22, 2022) — PrimeWay Federal Credit donated over $15,000 in school supplies to help prepare students for the new school year.

This year PrimeWay partnered with Plummer Middle School, donating over $10,000 in much-needed school supplies, ranging from backpacks, notebooks, pens, pencils, folders and much more. PrimeWay also held a school supply drive in each retail center, involving members and employees. In a labor of love, PrimeWay’s team ensured the backpacks were student ready.

“Going back to school can place a financial toll on families,” said Annette Zimmerman, President, and CEO of PrimeWay. She added, “PrimeWay is proud to help our community lighten the burden placed on our community.”

This school supply giveaway is part of PrimeWay’s “Live Positively” campaign, which highlights the credit union’s mission to help people and positively impact local communities. PrimeWay has adopted Plummer Middle School and plans to support the school more throughout the year. “The school supply drive is just the beginning of our partnership with Plummer Middle School,” said Michelle Oshinski, Chief Marketing Officer. “We are planning several other ways we can help the school, including providing financial education to the students,” continued Oshinski. “By educating the students early, we can help them build a stronger financial foundation for the future.”

This isn’t PrimeWay’s first foray into supporting back-to-school efforts. For 13 years, PrimeWay has partnered with iHeart Radio’s popular Rod Ryan Show and Houston Children’s Charity to donate $5000 in backpacks to help students return to school.

“Giving back to our community and helping them live positively is something that everyone at PrimeWay is proud to do,” Zimmerman added. “We have more surprises and activities planned for the Houston area, so be on the lookout for PrimeWay in the community.”
