ORANGE COUNTY, CA – This week, PSB Integrated Marketing announced their support of the Rivals United for a Kure campaign, which unites University of California Los Angeles Bruins and University of Southern California Trojans to raise money for underfunded cancer research. The goal of the campaign is to raise $2 million by the end of the year.  All the money raised will go to UCLA’s Jonsson and USC’s Norris Comprehensive Cancer Centers.

Upon learning about the campaign and attending committee meetings, PSB has offered to underwrite a portion of the printed marketing materials for Rivals United. PSB President Mark DeBellis commented, “We all have been touched by cancer. Being a part of an initiative to help the fight is an important way for PSB to give back.”

The heart of the campaign lies in Southern California, where the rivalry is strongest between the two teams and all their fans.  However, the power behind the campaign lies in its cause.  What better way to show support to those affected by cancer, than to create a unity between one of the biggest team rivalries in history?

This campaign is unlike any other—it is both unifying and competitive, triggering a friendly competition between the two schools.  “Both company founder Bill Berndt and I are Trojan alums. But I have the added pleasure of two Bruin daughters, so this campaign holds significant emphasis for me personally,” remarks DeBellis.  Every committee member feels the same way—from cancer survivors to past UCLA/USC quarterbacks, they all recognize the significance this campaign holds, and are excited to see the fundraising results.

From now until the Big Game on November 17th, large fundraising efforts are planned.  The climax of the campaign will be the Red Carpet Film Premiere & Fundraising Gala of A City Divided, a documentary on the USC/UCLA rivalry.  Held on November 12th at Club Nokia in Los Angeles, with hundreds of people gathering in support of the cause, this event will kick off Rivalry Week.  After dinner and live and silent auctions, the film will be premiered.

Being the first year, things have only just begun.  The committee has high hopes of the future—to spread this campaign throughout great rivalries in the nation.
