PSCU is premiere sponsor for Global Women’s Leadership Network

MADISON, WI & ST. PETERSBURG, FL (July 21, 2014) —  PSCU has signed a three-year agreement with the Global Women’s Leadership Network Sister Societies to serve as the program’s Premiere sponsor, PSCU and the World Council of Credit Unions announced today. The CUSO’s financial support over the term of the agreement will help underwrite initiatives that promote gender balance at the executive level and grow leadership opportunities for women in the credit union industry.

Sister Societies are local groups of Global Women’s Leadership Network members who gather regularly to exchange ideas and share information with other network members. Sister Societies have been established in 14 locations, including the U.S. and five other countries.

“We’re honored and excited to contribute time, talent and resources to an initiative that carries great benefit for credit unions everywhere,” said Fredda McDonald, PSCU EVP and chief creative officer. “Achieving gender balance in leadership positions at credit unions is a proven path to higher performance, profitability and positive business outcomes.”

The Sister Societies typically meet in local credit union offices in their respective regions and plan cooperative projects that advance the role of women in leadership positions in their credit unions and local communities. The foundation of women’s leadership is to help women learn from one another how to deal with issues in the workplace that are unique to women. Learning about the experiences of successful female leaders empowers women to advance, which is why many companies purposely invest in and focus on initiatives, such as the PSCU Susan Adams Women’s Leadership Network, for obtaining, engaging, and retaining women leaders in the workplace.

“Credit union women are engaged in making a difference in their local areas through Sister Societies by networking, learning from each other and committing resources to help local shelters, back-to-work programs and educational initiatives that demonstrate our desire to advance women. We are excited to have PSCU support our efforts,” said Susan Mitchell, Global Women’s Leadership Network chair.

PSCU’s Premiere sponsorship of the Sister Societies reinforces PSCU’s brand promise with credit union women around the world and provides women an opportunity to interact with female credit union leaders in a new space.

The Global Women’s Leadership Forum on July 26–27 at the World Credit Union Conference in Australia is expected to draw 100 women leaders from 22 countries to engage in peer-to-peer discussions and networking designed to increase women’s roles and impact in the credit union movement.

“World Council is very excited to partner with PSCU in advancing women leadership in the credit union industry,” said Brian Branch, World Council president and CEO. “This is a movement which is picking up momentum and having a lasting impact on individual careers, credit union leadership and community development.”
