PSECU poised to provide up to 36,000 servings of milk to Pennsylvania families in need through 2018 Fill a Glass with Hope sponsorship

HARRISBURG, PA (January 4, 2018) — PSECU, Pennsylvania’s largest credit union, is proud to once again sponsor the annual Fill a Glass with Hope® initiative, a collaboration between Feeding Pennsylvania, the Pennsylvania Dairymen’s Association, the Mid-Atlantic Dairy Association, agriculture partners, and business leaders that provides eight glasses of fresh milk to families in need for each $1 donation received. By committing a base contribution of $2,500 to Fill a Glass with Hope, and augmenting that support with up to $1,000 in additional funding through a social media campaign, as well as up to $1,000 through a celebratory milkshake anniversary sales promotion, the credit union is poised to provide up to 36,000 servings of milk to those experiencing hunger in local communities.

“Supporting the needs of Pennsylvanians is important to us at PSECU, and we believe that goes beyond providing the high-quality banking products and services that our members have grown to know and trust. By following the credit union philosophy of ‘people helping people,’ we work to help build stronger, healthier, and more vibrant communities that we can all enjoy,” explained PSECU President Greg Smith. “The Fill a Glass with Hope initiative helps address a major issue in our community – food insecurity – and we are honored to be able to assist with this effort to provide nutritious dairy products to those experiencing hunger.”

The 2018 Fill a Glass with Hope initiative will launch tomorrowJanuary 5, at the Pennsylvania Farm Show. For the duration of the 2018 Farm Show, donations will be accepted at the PA Dairymen’s Association booth in the Weis Expo Hall Food Court. For each $1 donation received, the initiative will provide eight glasses of milk to families in need. The Central Pennsylvania Food Bank, which PSECU also supports financially, is a direct beneficiary of the funds raised through this initiative, deploying the resources throughout its 27-county service area.

“On behalf of the Pennsylvania Dairymen’s Association, we are thrilled to have PSECU partner in a program which helps provide fresh milk to children and families throughout the Feeding Pennsylvania food bank network,” said David Smith, Executive Director of the Pennsylvania Dairymen’s Association. “This program helps close the nutritional gap of our food-challenged neighbors! With the help of PSECU members and others, we can make significant progress in providing milk to children and families in need.”

To mark the 65th anniversary of the Farm Show Milkshake, this year’s Fill a Glass with Hope initiative will include a special celebration on Friday, January 5 from 1-3 p.m. During the two-hour period, local celebrities will serve the milkshakes, and $1 from each milkshake sold will go directly to Fill a Glass with Hope. From 1-2 p.m., PSECU has pledged to donate an additional dollar to the campaign for each milkshake sold, up to a maximum of $1,000.

For a second year, PSECU is enhancing its sponsorship of Fill a Glass with Hope with the help of a social media campaign on the credit union’s Facebook channel. Through January 14, for every comment in response to their campaign question posted on Facebook, PSECU will donate an additional dollar toward the 2018 Fill a Glass with Hope initiative, up to a maximum of $1,000.

“To help members and non-members alike make it to the Pennsylvania Farm Show – and hopefully participate in the Fill a Glass with Hope campaign – PSECU will once again be offering free weekday lunchtime shuttle services to and from the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex & Expo Center throughout the Harrisburg area,” added Greg Smith. “A complete schedule, including stops serviced, is available at psecu.com/farmshow. You don’t need to worry about a ticket either – just hop on and ride. Everyone is invited to join us.”

Through its 2018 contributions to Fill a Glass with Hope, PSECU will provide up to 36,000 servings of fresh milk to families in need throughout Pennsylvania.
