The RCU Foundation made a $200,000 gift to the Mondovi Public Library for the construction of a new library adjacent to the existing library. This new building will more than double the square footage with dedicated spaces for children, teens and adults. The extra space will provide additional computer access stations, seating, study areas, and private spaces to be used for meetings and organizations that have no other place to meet in the community.
"The RCU Foundation's generous gift toward the Mondovi Public Library's new building fund is a lot more than just numbers on a check for us - albeit a lot of numbers!” said Laura Toone, Mondovi Public Library Interim Director. “We envision the new library as a community hub and an elevation to our whole way of life, and we are extremely grateful to the RCU Foundation for helping us make this happen."
The Mondovi Public Library exists to serve the community by providing the ever changing resources citizens need in their daily lives. “Many libraries in small towns are much more than a place to get a book” said John Sackett, President of the RCU Foundation Board. “We are honored to support Mondovi Public Library because their community focus so closely aligns with our goal to make a positive impact.” Funds from the RCU Foundation will be used for the Children’s Area in the new Mondovi Public Library.
Construction is expected to begin in 2023. The new library is scheduled to open in 2024.
