Redwood Credit Union adds in-house insurance agency
Plans to enhance service for current insurance offerings
SANTA ROSA, CA (April 14, 2015) — RCU Insurance Services, part of Redwood Credit Union’s wholly-owned subsidiary, has acquired a full-service insurance agency to enhance its operations. This addition will allow RCU Insurance Services to improve its current program with local in-person consultations and other added benefits to its existing insurance offerings for individuals and businesses.
Bay Area-based SST Insurance Brokers has become part of RCU Insurance Services, and over the next year, SST will transition to the broker for RCU Insurance Services, which has offered auto, home, commercial and other insurance products to Members through a network of outside brokers and agencies since launching in 2001.
“This transition will allow us to streamline the process and work directly with Members, which improves our ability to meet their needs,” said Bobbi Beehler, Executive Director of RCU Services Group, RCU’s wholly-owned subsidiary.
Current SST employees, including owner Douglas Mahon, have become employees of RCU Insurance Services. The brokerage will continue to operate as SST during the transition, and SST will continue to service the policies of its current policy holders for the foreseeable future.
“Joining with RCU Insurance Services is a great fit because they already share many of the same top-rated carriers as SST, as well as our commitment to excellent service,” said Mahon. SST brings to RCU Insurance Services the expertise to handle both large and small commercial and private client accounts.
Policies from SST and RCU Insurance Services will ultimately combine under the new structure, and the similarity of carriers between the two operations is expected to have minimal impact on current policy holders. All policies are expected to transition to the new structure over the course of one year.
