The National Credit Union Administration is hosting a webinar in recognition of International Credit Union Day on Thursday, October 21, beginning at 2 p.m. Eastern.
The “Pathways to Safe and Affordable Account Access for Consumers” webinar will highlight safe, low-cost transactional and savings accounts that are responsive to the needs of consumers, especially the underserved. Access to federally insured accounts from credit unions provide consumers with a safe place to grow savings, conduct financial transactions, build credit history, and help establish and maintain financial well-being. Invited guests will also expand on how credit unions can partner with city and community-based organization to provide account access to unbanked members of the public.
The webinar will also feature:
- A presentation from the Cities for Financial Empowerment’s BankOn platform and their National Account Standards along with credit unions that offer accounts that meet these national standards.
- A discussion with the Consumer Federation of America on the benefits of offering low-cost account features early in a person’s life.
- A presentation by the Center for Responsible Lending on reducing the impact of overdrafts on consumers.
Registration for this hour-long webinar is now open. Participants will be able to log into the webinar and view it on their computers or mobile devices using the registration link.
