Rhode Island Credit Union Takes Single Big Step, Joins CO-OP Shared Branching and Co-Op Network at Same Time

Instantly Adds 5,000 Branches and 30,000 Surcharge-Free ATMs

RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CA (June 3, 2013) In a single big step, Rhode Island Credit Union has added more than 5,000 branches and 30,000 ATMs nationwide to its roster of member services.

The 67-year-old credit union has simultaneously joined CO-OP Shared Branching and CO-OP Network, the two best known consumer brands in the credit union industry, operated by CO-OP Financial Services.

Founded in 1946 and based in Providence, R.I., Rhode Island Credit Union (www.ricreditunion.org) has more than $240 million in assets and services more than 25,000 members.

“Our partnership with CO-OP Shared Branching allows our members to have access to their accounts at thousands of convenient locations to perform transactions including deposits, withdrawals and loan payments,” said David B. Suvall, President/CEO of Rhode Island Credit Union. “And, as CO-OP Network is larger than any major bank network of ATMs, we can now provide our members with added convenience and save them money by offering 30,000 additional surcharge-free ATMs.”

CO-OP Network includes 9,000 deposit-taking ATMs. CO-OP Shared Branching includes more than 2,000 self-service locations at credit union branches and in select 7-Eleven stores nationwide. CO-OP Network and CO-OP Shared Branching locations can be found in all 50 states via locators at http://www.co-opnetwork.org and http://co-opsharedbranching.org, respectively.

In late April, CO-OP Financial Services announced a two-year consumer rebranding program for both CO-OP Shared Branching and CO-OP Network. Consumer-facing branding for shared branching locations will become CO-OP Shared Branch and the ATM network will be known as CO-OP ATM.
