Sacramento Credit Union named 2021 Healthiest Employer

SACRAMENTO, CA (October 21, 2021) — Sacramento Credit Union (SCU) has been named a winner in the 2021 Healthiest Employers of Sacramento. The awards program, powered by Springbuk, a national health intelligence platform, was created to honor people-first organizations that prioritize the well-being of their employees. This is the second consecutive year SCU was recognized for its commitment to workplace wellness and its exceptional health and benefits offerings.

“Sacramento Credit Union continues to make strides in the mental and physical well-being of our employees. Being named the Healthiest Employer reaffirms our commitment to the wellness journey,” said President and CEO Bhavnesh Makin.

To support employees during the pandemic, SCU started offering virtual activities and events in April 2020 for the first time. Due to the positive feedback and growing demand, they’ve expanded the offering in both frequency and areas of wellbeing. Over the last 12 months, they’ve offered more than 30 activity-based events, ranging from guided meditations and lunch & learns to healthy cooking demos and walking challenges.

“Sacramento Credit Union is an essential business, so our employees continued working throughout the pandemic. I’m proud that our managers worked individually with team members to listen to employee health and safety concerns and address those concerns,” said Vice President of Human Resources Aletha Hickey. “I’m also proud of the mental health awareness materials and resources we provided during the pandemic. It’s exciting to see our program change on a dime and respond to employee needs.”

About Sacramento Credit Union

Founded in 1935, SCU is a not-for-profit financial institution with seven branches in the Greater Sacramento area. Because it’s member-owned, the credit union doesn’t answer to shareholders, therefore passing savings on to members via lower rates on loans and higher returns on savings. Springbuk evaluated award applicants across six key categories: culture and leadership, foundational components, strategic planning, communication and marketing, programming and interventions, and reporting and analytics.
