“SDCCU is committed to helping our customers and the community protect their confidential data and privacy,” said Teresa Halleck, SDCCU President and CEO. “The first rule in preventing identity theft is: if you don’t need it, shred it, and we are here to make that happen. Shred Day represents an outstanding opportunity to shred your old personal documents the safe and easy way.”

“In addition, we are proud to be able to help consumers protect themselves from identity theft, while demonstrating our commitment to go green. Moving to our online banking services, such as eStatements, is a great way to minimize the amount of confidential information you have at home and reduce waste. We are dedicated to preventing identity theft as well as our efforts to go green with our online banking services, such as eStatements and eReceipts.”

Families who take advantage of SDCCU’s free shredding services on Nov. 15 will also receive a free gift, while supplies last.

Since SDCCU began hosting its free Shred Day events in 2007, SDCCU has collected, shredded and recycled more than 1.1 million pounds of documents at no charge, saving over 9,700 trees (every 120 pounds shredded represents one saved tree).
