SECU employees donate record amount to N.C. Combined Campaign

RALEIGH, NC (January 21, 2014) — For many years, State Employees’ Credit Union (SECU) staff members have supported the North Carolina State Employees Combined Campaign (SECC) – the annual workplace giving program for State employees and retirees.  During SECC’s recent Campaign, SECU personnel continued to demonstrate their generosity and commitment to helping others through their donations of nearly $78,000 to 2013 Campaign charities, surpassing their 2012 donations by 9%.

Mary Paisley, Director of the North Carolina State Employees Combined Campaign remarked, “We can’t thank State Employees’ Credit Union personnel enough for their efforts to help so many wonderful causes.  The SECC allows participants to contribute personally to charities they care about, making a significant impact on addressing a wide range of needs across North Carolina.  Credit Union employees continue to be our loyal supporters, and we look forward to many more years of working together!”

Created by Governor James B. Hunt in 1984, the State Employees Combined Campaign provides State employees and retirees an opportunity to direct their contributions to charitable organizations through a uniform, systematic and convenient process.  With the support of many SECC volunteers and generous donors over the past 28 years, the Campaign has raised to-date over $95 million!

“Our employees’ efforts for the State Employees Combined Campaign reflect a shared commitment of charitable giving, exemplifying the credit union philosophy of People Helping People,” commented Jimmy Goodrum, SECU Senior Vice President of Member Education and Outreach.  “We are very proud to have so many staff members participate, helping to make a difference in the lives of others through the many worthwhile SECC charities.”
