Security Service Charitable Foundation donates $10,000 to El Paso Children’s Hospital for new equipment

Donation to fund the purchase of new blood gas analyzers

SAN ANTONIO, TX (July 5, 2018) — The Security Service Charitable Foundation has presented the El Paso Children’s Hospital Foundation (EPCH) with a $10,000 donation to be used for the purchase of three blood gas analyzers. EPCH is faced with aging blood gas analyzers which are used to perform the analysis of the patient’s blood and are critically important for high quality patient care.

“The blood gas analyzers we will be able to purchase through Security Service’s donation are vital to patient care,” said Taylor Moreno, director of institutional development for El Paso Children’s Hospital Foundation. “This will allow us to continue providing exceptional medical care in a medically underserved area.”

EPCH is the only freestanding, licensed pediatric hospital in a 250-mile radius and serves a region categorized by the federal government as a medically underserved area and a health professional shortage area. Their facility features 122 beds, the majority dedicated to critical care which positions the hospital to be the premier facility for specialized pediatric care in the region.  Last year alone, EPCH saw close to 39,000 visits for both inpatient and outpatient services.

“Prior to its opening just six years ago, more than 650 El Paso children had to seek medical treatment outside of the community, adding financial strain and creating separation for families,” said Marisela Molinar, vice president of member service – Mountain Region for Security Service Federal Credit Union.  “We are honored to help provide the critical equipment El Paso Children’s Hospital needs to care for our community’s sickest children.”

The Security Service Charitable Foundation helps further Security Service Federal Credit Union’s corporate goal of community service by contributing to deserving organizations and causes in the credit union’s market areas that better the community and help to improve the quality of life.
