Security Service Charitable Foundation donates $3,000 to Epkicks

Donation to help provide school shoes for children in need

The Security Service Charitable Foundation helped to provide school shoes for 100 El Paso children by donating $3,000 to epkicks. Organized by Ken Benckwitz and Sebastian Rumler, epkicks engages the community to inspire children and youth to believe in their future one step at a time. They started with a GoFundMe campaign in 2018 that raised $1,200 and have since been able to raise funds to provide shoes for hundreds of El Paso children.

“The shoes we are able to provide because of the donation from the Security Service Charitable Foundation represent so much more than new footwear alone,” said Ken Benckwitz co-founder of epkicks. “For many children, they will boost their self-confidence and remind them that they have an army of people who care for them and want to see them succeed.”

As a non-profit, epkicks distributes shoes through their partnership with the H.A.N.D.S (Helping the Academic Needs of Displaced Students) program. H.A.N.D.S assists children who lack a fixed, regular, and adequate residence.

“Security Service is excited to help epkicks take a small step forward in increasing children’s self-confidence and self-esteem through something as simple and meaningful as a new pair of shoes,” said Marisela Molinar, vice president of member service-Mountain Region for Security Service Federal Credit Union. “We appreciate organizations like epkicks that help our youth achieve great things with their service to others and generosity to those in need.”

The Security Service Charitable Foundation helps further Security Service Federal Credit Union’s corporate goal of community service by contributing to deserving organizations and causes in the credit union's market areas.
