Securityplus Federal Credit Union announces executive leadership board appointments, reaffirming commitment to serving and strengthening communities

BALTIMORE, MD (May 9, 2024) — Securityplus Federal Credit Union, a trusted financial institution serving the greater Baltimore community, is proud to announce the appointment of Jeff Gehris, Chief Operating Officer, to the board of the Baltimore County Region United Network (RUN) for the United Way of Central Maryland, and Obi Ndukwe, Chief People & Impact Officer, to the board of the Greater Baltimore Chamber of Commerce. These appointments reflect Securityplus’s dedication to serving and strengthening its communities through impactful initiatives, financial empowerment, and a shared belief that everyone should have the opportunity to thrive.

The United Way of Central Maryland is a non-profit organization committed to helping individuals and families in the greater Baltimore area achieve stability through housing, education, employment, and health. The RUN board serves as strategic advisors and advocates in helping the United Way achieve its goal of reducing the number of families and individuals living as ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed).

“Joining the RUN board has been an incredibly rewarding experience,” said Gehris, who first got involved with the organization through the credit unions’ participation in the United Way’s Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service initiative. “The United Way’s commitment to promoting equality, creating opportunities, fostering stability, and improving lives not only resonates with me, but aligns with Securityplus’s values and mission. We are on a collective mission to shape the future, and I look forward to the opportunity to make a lasting and meaningful impact. It is a particularly exciting time, as the United Way of Central Maryland is celebrating a significant milestone – 100 Years of Impact,” added Gehris.

The Greater Baltimore Chamber of Commerce, a non-profit business association, helps local businesses thrive and succeed is a strong advocate for businesses in the policy-making process, and fosters partnerships that enhance community development and neighborhood revitalization.

“I am honored to join the board of the Greater Baltimore Chamber of Commerce and contribute to its mission of supporting local businesses and fostering community development,” said Ndukwe. “At Securityplus, we understand the critical role that accessible financial services play in business success. By aligning our efforts to connect our workforce with community partners, we not only enhance our service model but also contribute to the economic vitality of our community. I look forward to bringing this approach to the Chamber, where we can drive meaningful change and help our local businesses thrive.”

“Our commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility underscores our mission of making a positive difference by not only providing caring service to our members, but also in understanding the importance of supporting and giving back to the communities we serve,” said Ray Ragan, Interim Chief Executive Officer of Securityplus. “Both Jeff and Obi have consistently demonstrated a passion for community involvement, advocacy, and financial empowerment. I am confident that they will bring valuable insights and leadership to these two key organizations.”
