SECU’s CashPoints® Global now helps 60,000 members manage their finances

RALEIGH, NC (May 22, 2015) — State Employees’ Credit Union (SECU) is pleased to announce significant growth with its in-house CashPoints Global (CPG) account, now helping 60,000 members since it was launched just a few years ago. CashPoints Global provides a controlled spending debit card tied to a non-interest bearing SECU account, an ideal option for members who not only are frequent travelers, students or online shoppers, but for those members looking for a practical alternative to traditional checking account services.

SECU members find CPG an attractive option because of its versatility of use and budget-friendly features which include no checks, no paper statements, and no overdraft or non-sufficient fund (NSF) fees. The CashPoints Global card has a low monthly fee of $1.00 and is accepted anywhere the Visa logo is displayed – Automated Teller Machines (ATMs), merchants and online retailers. Funds can be added to the account at any time and CPG account holders have access to SECU wire transfers and online BillPay, among other services.

Shelley Clark, Vice President of SECU’s Jacksonville-Western Boulevard branch, finds CashPoints Global to be a great option in helping members achieve long-term financial success. “The CPG account continues to be a popular choice for members who enjoy online shopping, helping them stay on track with their finances while limiting fraud risk exposure to their traditional checking account. It’s also perfect for many of our members who want to keep vacation funds separate while traveling, and for parents of students heading off to college, preferring the option of a controlled spending account to help their young adult student budget and pay for incidental living expenses.”

“We’re pleased that SECU members are choosing Cash Points Global to help them maintain a higher level of control over their finances,” comments Leanne Phelps, SECU Senior Vice President of Card Services. “The Credit Union continues to see CPG account growth, this year experiencing more than a 17% increase over last year, which confirms the need for a controlled spending account to support the overall needs of our member-owners.”
