Shell FCU celebrates service support center with ribbon cutting event

DEER PARK, TX (April 30, 2024) — Shell Federal Credit Union (Shell FCU) marked a significant milestone with the grand opening of its new Service Support Center, celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on April 24, 2024. The event was attended by esteemed members of the Shell FCU Board of Directors, Supervisory Committee, Management, as well as distinguished elected officials, guests from local chambers, and credit union partners.

Located at 201 E 13th Street in Deer Park, Texas, the Service Support Center boasts a remarkable 100,000 square feet of space spread across four floors. The building is a testament to the collaborative efforts of Shell FCU and the SLI Group, which spearheaded the construction project. Beginning with meticulous planning in 2017, the SLI Group brought the vision to life, breaking ground in January 2022. The culmination of their expertise and dedication resulted in a state-of-the-art facility that will serve as a cornerstone for Shell FCU’s operations for years to come.

The grand opening ceremony was a festive affair, highlighted by the culinary talents of Deer Park High School’s Advanced Culinary Arts students who prepared and displayed an array of delectable food offerings. The ambiance was further enhanced by the melodious tunes of Deer Park Independent School District Orchestra teachers.

Shell FCU CEO/President, Jose Rodriguez, delivered an inspiring address, underscoring the credit union’s commitment to providing exceptional service to its membership and communities. Joining him were representatives from the Deer Park Chamber of Commerce, Pasadena Chamber of Commerce, LaPorte Chamber of Commerce, and South Belt-Ellington Chamber of Commerce, reaffirming the strong partnerships forged within the community.

Guests were greeted with elaborate decorations, including massive bows, fresh flowers, and custom giveaway bags containing fun facts about the new Service Support Center building.

The Service Support Center maximizes the credit union’s positive work culture with amenities such as four lactation rooms, four employee phone rooms, three employee lounges, and eight coffee bars. Additionally, the center features nine water bottle filling stations, three elevators, 49 offices, and 12 conference rooms. With the capacity to house up to 500 employees, the center is poised to efficiently serve the Shell FCU membership.

Noteworthy statistics about the construction of the building include the incorporation of 36,110 square feet of glass, 555.9 tons of steel, 52.75 miles of wire, 260 tons of air conditioning, 320 windows, 100,800 bricks, and a staggering 3,752 cubic yards of concrete.
