Sikorsky Credit Union honored as Credit Union Hero

STRATFORD, CT (July 14, 2020) — Sikorsky Credit Union was recently honored with the Banking New England 2020 Community Bank and Credit Union Heroes Bronze award for their asset category of $500 million – $1.5 billion. Each year, Banking New England looks at the ways financial institutions throughout New England are giving back to their community and presents awards by asset class.

Sikorsky Credit Union received the award for donating $5,000 to the Stratford Connecticut Chapter of Imagination Library, a book gifting program that provides free books to children from birth until they begin school. The Imagination Library was started in 1995 by singer Dolly Parton to provide free, high-quality books to young children. Since the program started, over 100 million books have been given to children around the world. The Imagination Library in Stratford will ensure that over 1,600 children under age five will receive one age-appropriate book per month.

“Helping children get access to books at an early age can help them develop a love of reading and learning,” stated Sikorsky Credit Union President & CEO, Vincent Ciambriello. “We are so happy we could give back to the children in our local community.”
