To better serve its communities, Southland Credit Union expanded Membership eligibility to include everyone living, working, attending school or worshiping in Los Angeles County.
The Credit Union has historically served a limited number of cities and zip codes within Los Angeles County, but now Southland is proud to serve every city and area that is a part of the county. The Credit Union also serves those who live, work, attend school or worship in all of Orange County.
Southland Credit Union submitted a request for the Los Angeles County expansion to the California Department of Business Oversight (DBO). The request was approved by the DBO in early June.
With L.A. County branch locations in Long Beach, Carson, Downey, Santa Monica and the Los Angeles Federal Building, Southland Credit Union is excited to open its doors to residents in surrounding cities.
“This approval is a significant milestone for our Credit Union,” Southland Credit Union Chief Executive Officer Tom Lent said. “We now have the opportunity to reach more potential Members with our exceptional, comprehensive and innovative financial solutions! It will simplify our Membership qualification requirements and allow us to deliver our uniquely personal Southland service to an expanded area.”
The Membership eligibility expansion is effective immediately. Los Angeles County residents can inquire about joining Southland Credit Union at a branch location near them or by calling the Service Center at 800-426–1917.
Southland Credit Union was founded in 1936 to serve the financial needs of Los Angeles County Flood Control District employees. Being able to now serve all of Los Angeles County is an opportunity and a privilege that goes back to the Credit Union’s historical roots.
