CrossState Credit Union Association awarded First Capital Federal Credit Union’s Board Chair, Stewart Olewiler, III, the 2022 Credit Union Volunteer of the Year Award during the CrossState Annual Conference May 22-24, 2022 in Atlantic City, NJ.
Olewiler’s award comes as he celebrates 33 years of service on First Capital’s Board of Directors, 30 of those as Board Chair.
“When I became CEO, Stu was nothing but supportive of me and our team. He taught me a lot of valuable lessons early on in my career. He taught me you better be prepared, you better do your homework, and if you don’t know the answer right away, it’s okay,” said Sue DeStephano, First Capital’s President & CEO. “When we realized he was coming up on 30 years as our Board Chair, we knew that we had to submit an application for the Calvin H. Jackson Volunteer of the Year Award…and he won!”
The Volunteer of the Year Award is named in memory of Calvin H. Jackson, an outstanding citizen and credit union volunteer for St. James A.M.E. Church Credit Union. The Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes a volunteer who has selflessly given time, effort, and talent to the betterment of the credit union movement with little or no monetary compensation.
