Summit Financial Wellness and Honor Credit Union donate laptops to Mosaic CCDA’s Jobs for Life program

BERRIEN SPRINGS, MI (September 11, 2020) — Summit Financial Wellness has partnered with Honor Credit Union’s IT Department to donate ten laptops to Mosaic Christian Community Association’s (CCDA) Jobs for Life Program. The laptops will allow Mosaic to reach more participants during the pandemic by providing the technology needed for the addition of virtual classes and remote resources.

Mosaic’s Jobs for Life Program (JFL), which provides the soft skills needed to enter the workforce and teaches students the dignity of work, welcomed Barbara Sistrunk, Executive Director of Summit Financial Wellness, as a partner in fall 2019. Sistrunk assists the non-profit by teaching classes on building healthy financial habits, setting financial goals, and budgeting.

Due to the current public health crisis, JFL recognized the need to acquire laptops to continue to adhere to social distancing guidelines and reach more participants through teaching virtual courses and connecting students to resources, such as online college courses. Upon learning of this need through Shelley Madison, Mosaic’s Jobs for Life Administrator, Sistrunk approached Honor Credit Union’s IT Department for help.

“After talking with Shelly, I immediately knew I wanted to help,” commented Sistrunk. “I reached out Honor’s IT Department, who were beyond excited about the opportunity to give back to the community. Honor’s IT Support Manager, Justin Arthur, made the magic happen by providing ten gently used and refreshed laptops to donate to the program. I strongly believe in the power of education and am so grateful to have a partner like Honor to help me provide the technology needed to reach more students during this time.”
