TDECU’s Linda Matcheski Honored for Professional and Community Contributions

LAKE JACKSON, TX (May 28, 2013) Linda Matcheski, Executive Assistant and Liaison for the Board of Directors for TDECU, has been selected by The Texas Association of Mexican American Chambers of Commerce (TAMACC) as one of its 2013 Women of Distinction. The award recognizes 12 Latinas from across the state for their professional accomplishments and community contributions. Matcheski received her award at the Second Annual Women of Distinction Awards luncheon that was held in Austin on May 17, 2013.

“We are proud of Linda who is very deserving of this recognition,” said Stephanie Sherrodd, TDECU President and CEO. “Linda is a tireless volunteer, contributing her time and energy to support many initiatives in our community.”

Matcheski’s passion for involvement in the community first began with the love for her own children. She wanted them to experience a community where the best opportunities were available to everyone. This spurred her toward becoming involved in all aspects of community giving, from coaching and fundraising to volunteerism efforts in both her personal and professional life.

“I believe that we can’t make a difference by being on the sidelines. Instead, we need to selflessly give of ourselves to make a community better for the next generation,” said Matcheski.

Matcheski’s active community involvement spans across numerous organizations including: The Brazoria County Hispanic Chamber, Brazoria County Alliance for Children, The Brazoria County Association for Citizens with Handicaps, Relay for Life, United Way, Special Athletic Booster Club, OTCYBC, WC Little League, WOTB Basketball Assoc, WOTB Soccer Club and Project graduation. She also served on the PTO in several leadership positions throughout her children’s education years.  She currently serves on the Brazoria County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Executive Board as Secretary, is chair of the Planning Committee and is a member of the Ambassadors Committee.

Linda holds an Associate’s Degree in Business Management from Brazosport College. When she is not volunteering in her community, she spends her personal time reading, enjoying outdoor activities, and spending time with her family. She is the mother to two sons and has lived in West Columbia for 33 years.
